New River Valley SHRM Structured Interview Workshop September 26, 2008
Structured Interviews have been shown not only to be one of the best predictors of employee performance, but also a selection technique that minimizes adverse impact and other potential legal problems.
By attending this workshop in a beautiful setting on Claytor Lake, you will not only learn how to create and conduct structured interviews, but will walk away with a structured interview created for a job in your organization.

PVCC Fall Job and Internship Fair
PVCC invites you to participate in our Fall Job and Internship Fair on Wednesday, October 15th from 11am-2pm. This fair provides the perfect opportunity for you to recruit for interns as well as for seasonal, full-time, part-time and temporary positions.
Our students represent a wide range of programs, including biotechnology, administrative support technology, accounting, management, electronics technology, graphic design, web technologies, networking, computer-aided drafting and design, human services, protective services, and health care.
This event is free and open to the general public.

Come Study With ACHRA!
Yes, it’s that time of year again! The Professional Development Committee will again sponsor a Fall SPHR/PHR Study Group/Prep Course. We will meet once a week starting in September. Each of the six functional areas of HR will be facilitated by fellow ACHRA members. The facilitators have all received his/her certification and will provide you with information and “helpful hints” to help prepare you for the exam.
Target Audience: Individuals preparing to sit for the SPHR or PHR certification exam and/or wishing to expand their HR body of knowledge
Dates: September 16 to November 18, 2008 in preparation for the December 1, 2008 to January 31, 2009 testing window.
Times: Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30- length subject to change depending on session content.
Location: Cadmus Communications, 1317 Carlton Avenue, Charlottesville (where Tracey Via is Director of HR, (434) 327-1902).
