Thank you for your interest and prospective membership in the Albemarle Charlottesville Human Resources Association, ACHRA. It is the mission of the Albemarle/Charlottesville Human Resource Association to serve as a recognized resource and provide leadership to its membership and the business community through sharing and promoting best practices in human resource management.
ACHRA strives:
- To be a recognized community leader in human resource management;
- To provide high quality, dynamic and responsible programs and service to our members and community;
- To be the voice of the profession on human resource management issues;
- To facilitate the development and guide the direction of the human resources profession ACHRA members range by both position and geographic location.
The geographic location of ACHRA members includes the City of Charlottesville, the County of Albemarle, and adjacent counties. Membership in ACHRA shall be on a personal and not company basis.
We look forward to your prospective involvement with our unique group of community professionals.
Annual membership dues are $35.00. In addition to dues there are small fees associated with each meeting to cover the cost of food and beverages. Or you can take advantage of a one-time payment of $160.00 that covers the dues and all meeting costs for the entire year!

Membership Levels
There are four membership levels available:
I. Professional - Responsible for administering human resource functions at least 75% of the time. Has at least three (3) years experience in human resource management and meets one of the following criteria:
- Posesses at least three (3) years of exempt-level human resource management experience
- Is certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute (either PHR or SPHR certification)
- Is a faculty member holding an assistant, associate or full professional rank in human resource management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and has at least three (3) years of experience at this level of teaching
- Is a full-time consultant with at least three (3) years experience as a practitioner in human resource management Professional members are allowed voting rights and may hold office.
II. General - Engaged in the profession of human resource management in exempt positions but do not meet the requirements of Professional membership. General members are allowed voting rights, but may not hold office. Associate Individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions as well as those who do not meet any of the foregoing categories, but have a bona fide interest in human resource management.
III. Associate - Associate members are not allowed voting rights and may not hold office.
IV. Student - Persons who are students and members of a student chapter affiliated with SHRM. Student members are not allowed voting rights and may not hold office.
