HR Education
The Albemarle-Charlottesville Human Resources Association supports and encourages certification and continuing education in the field of Human Resources. As part of the Chapter’s Professional Development Program, we provide information about seminars, conferences, and classes offered in the Central Virginia area that covers exposure and understanding in six specific areas of the field, also referred to the HR Body of Knowledge as defined by HRCI. Specifically, these areas are:
- Strategic Management – HR Management practitioners are required to have a general understanding of the field of management, its history and theories and the trends and implications that exist today.
- Workforce Planning and Employment – HR Management practitioners require an understanding of how jobs are filled, the various methods of recruiting candidates, and the selection process.
- Human Resources Development – HR Management practitioners must have an understanding of adult learning methodologies, relating training efforts to organizational goals, and evaluating the effort.
- Total Rewards – The HR Management practitioner must understand the intricacies involved in establishing an effective Total Rewards package.
- Employee and Labor Relations – The HR Management practitioner must understand the various laws that affect the labor and management work relationship.
- Risk Management – The HR Management practitioner must provide a workplace that is safe and free from physical and emotional harm.
